These vintage photos capture the pioneering spirit and character of rural village of Mount Victory, Ohio - photos range from early part of the century to the 40's, 50's. Many of the photos, especially the business interiors, seem to be done by a professional who was documented local businesses. Mount Victory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and continues to be a working village with over 12 antique shops and many local service businesses in continuous operation. © 2009-2010

    Henry Martin's store - probably taken on opening day. Henry and his wife lived above the store in what is said to be a fairly opulent apartment.The store burned was a vacant lot. The Mt. Victory Community Development Association with the help of many resident's donations, developed it into the Henry Martin Memorial Park.

    Train Watchman - before railroad tracks had automatic gates that came down to stop traffic when a car approached, there was the Train Watchman. He or she would watch and listen for the train at their post, then stop traffic whenever a train approached.
